The architecture of
distributed systems
Distributed systems are systems in which multiple computers work together to achieve a common goal. They provide scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability.
SmartZoom brings macOS-style Smart Zoom to Windows. Press a shortcut, click a button, or use your configured trigger — and instantly bring what you’re looking at into focus.

SmartZoom watches for your trigger, so it needs a keyboard and mouse hook. Here’s exactly what that means.
SmartZoom never connects to the internet: no telemetry, no update checks, no analytics. Settings and logs stay in your Windows profile.
Read the privacy notes →The keyboard hook watches modifier keys and the shortcut you chose. Nothing you type is recorded, stored or sent.
See the hook’s code →MIT-licensed and on GitHub. Read the code, or build the installer yourself.
Read the source →The things worth knowing about a tool that watches for a keypress.
No. Its keyboard hook only reacts to modifier keys and the shortcut you configured; nothing you type is recorded or sent, and SmartZoom makes no network connections. Check the code.
The installer isn’t code-signed yet, so SmartScreen doesn’t recognise the publisher. Choose More info → Run anyway, or check the download against SHA256SUMS first. Signing is tracked as issue #8.
Browsers, PDF readers, Word and Excel get a smart zoom that follows the content. Any other app can be set to use Ctrl + mouse wheel on the Applications page. Missing one you need? Open an issue.
Right-click the tray icon and choose Change trigger…, or open the Triggers page in settings. Then press the button or keys you want.
Windows blocks input to apps running as administrator, so those can’t be zoomed. Pages that block pinch gestures fall back to the browser’s own page zoom. All known limitations.
Settings → Apps → Installed apps → SmartZoom → Uninstall. Your settings are kept unless you choose to remove them, so a reinstall picks up where you left off.
